These last 48 hours have been nothing short of dramatic. This past Monday, we marked the five-year anniversary of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X with a tournament to decide the top exclusive title of this console generation. We presented eight PlayStation 5 titles and eight Xbox Series X exclusives to face off against each other, all heading towards a final showdown where the top game from each platform would go head-to-head. There have been some incredibly close calls in the initial matchups, particularly yesterday’s razor-thin votes. Now, it's moment to decide the leading PlayStation and Xbox titles ahead of the championship on Thursday.

PlayStation 5 Contenders

On the PS5 side, we have the Kratos-killer, Astro Bot. Maybe it should be no surprise given that it took home the top prize at the previous year's gaming accolades, but its win against God of War Ragnarök seems like a major shock. But to get to the finals, it'll have to go through the MVP of the PlayStation 5 era: Insomniac Games. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 enjoyed an easy journey to the final four, leaping past Ghost of Yōtei and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (another title from the same studio!) to land in the semi-finals. Can Spidey topple a beloved PlayStation icon, or is he fated to become a miniature appearance in the upcoming Astro Bot title?

Xbox Series X Contenders

The Xbox Series X side has been even juicier. Coming out on top from a more eclectic field of contenders is Forza Horizon 5. It's a big victory for the racing adventure title already, proving that a more specialized genre game earns to be on the equal footing as classic platformers and cinematic action-adventure games. Its last roadblock on the way to the finals is a major challenge, though. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has proven to be a fan favorite, defeating critical darlings like Pentiment and Hi-Fi Rush. Can it beat a larger-scale title from an well-known franchise that's closely tied to the Xbox brand? If anyone can pull that off, it's likely Indiana Jones.
